I went to the LA Psych Fest this year and found myself in another world! The day was rich with eye candy and musical wonder! The vibe was just as lovely, filled with creativity in every direction going every which way. Jeffertitties Nile, Insects Vs. Robots, Kikagakumoyo, and many more brought a nice mix of sounds and soul moving tunes. Life size puppets and enriching visuals really added to the surreal vibe. The sense of community was really great too. I like to think that's one of the beautiful things about L.A. The various groups of circles that exist and bring color to the community in our time.
As I asked people what psychedelic meant to them, I fell into a wave of different answers. One conversation that really stood out to me was with a cat who was traveling and mentioned the idea of recording the moment in the moment in time. It just left a very interesting feeling in me and left me wondering about what we are doing as a collective and adding to life. Everyone has a different aspect they can share with the world. What we do now affects what can happen in the future and so on. We always have a chance to take the moment and turn it into something new. Hopefully with time, the future can be just as bright with all the colors and sounds we send into the atmosphere. LA Psych Fest

The second community project started out at The Hive Gallery during it's Morpheus "Dream Themed" Show, then traveled with Cannibal Flowers to The Cave, and ended at The Syrup Loft during it's EpiphiNoir show. Each night was magical as I ran into some amazing people, creativity, and conversations on what happens during the late night hours. Below are some of my favorite thoughts and memories left on the board.
"Dreams: The reality I conquer for myself outside of the physical realm." JD "A paradox, a juxtaposition, a meeting of ends." "Dreams are an aspect of our consciousness that is linked and inseparable from whatever you call your waking life." The Cicadist "Dreams are our subconscious reality. Dreams refuse and deny our limits. Dreams are our spontaneous truths." Stephanie Weitekamp "Echoes of the never forgotten!" "Dreams are the alternate realities that could be, should be, and will be." "A strong reminder to get your shit together!" Each thought was equally memorable and each night left a stronger impression on what dreams mean to me. They are a reflection of everything around us. Our experiences, relationships, actions, fears, desires, and so much more. They have the power to speak to us on so many different levels and act as a bridge to the infinite. Pure universal consciousness, connecting all the dots we cant see but can reach if we keep our hearts and minds open to their gifts of ethereal insight. I can go on but will leave that for another dream. One in which I write a book on my own thoughts and insights on our secret midnight rendezvous. Till then, keep chasing your own dreams and inspire. The first community project of the year had me going around L.A. asking people what they thought about Love. As simple as it sounds, a lot of people were left wondering what love really meant to them. (Seeing as how it was Valentines day, it seemed even more appropriate.) :p It was interesting to see what some couples had to say to each other and even seeing a quiet romance happen on the spot! Here are some of my fav's+
"Love is: A moment & all the little things that led up to it...." SR "Love is happiness and free fall with no landing, losing yourself in someone." Cyrielle "El amor es tener calor interior y compartirlo para nunca tener frio." <3 <3 <3 "Love is an elixir. Love is like weed. A cocktail mixer. A Sure way to bleed. Might feel like a waste of being awake. Especially when there's too much at stake. But isn't it a weird, crazy dichotomy? If this brain stuff is love, I'll take that lobotomy!" Natasha Danae "An Eight of Indica." Eric After asking so many different people, it's hard for me to even come up with my own answer! It can take shape in so many ways, from being a very intimate feeling you share with someone to being a feeling between a memory, a song, a story. It's universal, limitless, and infinite. It's very hard to put into words but when you feel it, you know just how special it really is. Peace+Love |
