Robaflor celebrated a year of playing music together with some good friends at The Offbeat Bar in Highland Park. They started off the show by dedicating the first song to people coming across the southern us border and that right there already shares their thoughtful sentiments. Their music is a blend of latin based sounds and rhythms with a touch of samba and bossa nova. Their folk like rhythms and percussive melodies with a soulful flute dancing in the air express their natural spirits so well. Sometimes playful, they also seem to be aware of the struggle that people are going through in the latin community and that kind of spirit shines so well with a group of people who are genuinely expressing themselves through music and at the same time raising awareness of where people are and what we can do to be more mindful of the world around us.

It was a pleasure to catch their set live and see some familiar friends within the community. My girlfriend and I weren't able to stay for long as we went to catch Low Leaf at the Hi Hat right after but seeing people get together even for a second is a blessing.
